With 112 votes, Murad Ali Shah defeated Ali Khurseedi of the MQM-Pakistan, who received just 36 votes, to become the 25th leader of the House. Pro-PPP chanting echoed throughout the assembly as Murad was chosen for the first time with a two-thirds majority. An important turning point in provincial politics has been reached with the swearing-in of Murad Ali Shah as the Chief Minister of Sindh for a record third term.
